The short version: Use the app to think more clearly through caring for an aging parent. We provide guidance and reference material — we are NOT a doctor, lawyer, or financial advisor. Always check with the right professional for decisions that affect your parent's care, finances, or legal status. Don't sue us for general guidance; do sue us if we genuinely harm you.

1. What we are

When Roles Reverse is a companion app to the book of the same name by Mark A. Siedlecki. It provides organized caregiving guidance, decision-tree playbooks, professional-directory links, and journaling tools for adult-child caregivers.

2. What we are NOT

We are NOT a medical provider. We do not diagnose, treat, prescribe, or replace clinical care. Always defer to your parent's clinical team for medical decisions.

We are NOT a lawyer or law firm. We do not give legal advice. The directories we link to are starting points for finding licensed attorneys; the relationship and advice are between you and the attorney you hire.

We are NOT a financial advisor or planner. We do not give investment, tax, or financial-planning advice. The financial frameworks in the app are general information, not advice tailored to your situation.

We are NOT a Lawyer Referral Service. We do not refer specific consumers to specific attorneys for compensation. We list public directories.

3. Use of the app

• You may use the app for personal, non-commercial caregiving purposes.
• You may not scrape, copy, redistribute, or republish the content (the chapters, playbooks, checklists, directories) without our written permission.
• You may share specific URLs to specific pages with friends and family, including via social media.
• You may not use the app to harass, defame, or harm anyone, including the professionals listed in our directories.

4. Account and content

You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure. You are responsible for the accuracy of information you enter. You retain ownership of your journal entries, triage answers, and other personal content; we do not claim any rights to it. You grant us a limited, internal license to store, encrypt, transmit, and back up that content for the purpose of operating the service.

5. Disclaimers

The app is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or always accurate. Information in the app may become outdated; we make reasonable efforts to keep it current but make no guarantee.

Content in the app is general information, not professional advice. Do not rely on it for medical, legal, or financial decisions without consulting a licensed professional.

6. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising from your use of the app is limited to the greater of $50 USD or the amount you have paid us for the service in the past 12 months. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages, including lost profits, lost data, or emotional distress.

This limitation does not apply to gross negligence, willful misconduct, or other liabilities that cannot be limited by law.

7. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless When Roles Reverse, its author, contributors, and operators from any third-party claim arising from your misuse of the app, your violation of these terms, or your violation of any law.

8. Termination

You can stop using the app at any time. You can delete your account at any time. We can suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms or use the app in a way that harms other users or us. We will give you reasonable notice and a chance to cure the violation when we can.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Tennessee, USA, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Hamilton County, Tennessee, unless you and we agree to alternative resolution (mediation or arbitration).

10. Changes

If we change these terms in a material way, we will notify you in the app and (if you have an account) by email at least 30 days before the change takes effect. Continued use of the app after the effective date means you accept the updated terms.
