Privacy Policy
Effective date: 2026-05-03 · Last updated: 2026-05-03
The short version: When Roles Reverse is local-first. Your triage answers, journal entries, daily check-ins, and bookmarks live on YOUR device, encrypted by your device's normal storage protections. Nothing leaves your device unless you create an account and explicitly turn on cloud sync. We do not sell your data. We do not use it to target ads. We do not share it with anyone.
What we collect when you use the app WITHOUT an account
Nothing leaves your device. Specifically:
- Your triage answers, daily check-ins, journal entries, bookmarks, and any data you enter — all stored in your browser's localStorage (web) or @capacitor/preferences (iOS/Android native shell), on your device only.
- We do not send that data to any server.
- We do not run analytics on what you do inside the app.
- We do not log your IP address beyond standard web-server access logs (used solely for security and rate-limiting; rotated regularly).
What we collect IF you create an account
Account creation is OPTIONAL. It exists so you can use the app on multiple devices and so your data is backed up if you lose your phone. If you create an account, we collect:
- Your email address (for sign-in and account recovery).
- Your display name (so the app can greet you).
- Optionally, your parent's first name(s) (so the app can personalize prompts — never shared, never used outside the app).
- The data you choose to sync to the cloud — triage, roadmap, check-ins, journal. Stored encrypted at rest in our database (Supabase, hosted in the U.S.).
You can delete your account and all associated cloud data at any time from Settings → Account → Delete account. Deletion is permanent and immediate.
What we DO NOT do
- We do not sell your data.
- We do not share your data with advertisers.
- We do not use your data to train any AI model.
- We do not show you ads inside the app.
- We do not track you across other websites.
- We do not share your data with attorneys, professionals, or any third parties from our directories. The directories link out to public listings; what you do after you click a link is between you and that professional.
Cookies and similar technologies
The app uses your browser's localStorage (or its native equivalent on iOS/Android) to remember your data on YOUR device. We do not set tracking cookies. We do not use third-party analytics SDKs.
Children
The app is intended for adults caring for aging parents. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us and we will delete it immediately.
Your rights
If you live in California, the EU, the UK, or another jurisdiction with data-protection laws, you have the right to:
- Know what data we hold about you (request via the email below).
- Get a copy of your data (use Settings → Account → Export, or email us).
- Correct any inaccurate data (Settings → Account → Edit profile, or email us).
- Delete your account and all associated data (Settings → Account → Delete, or email us).
- Object to specific uses of your data (email us).
We will respond to all requests within 30 days.
Security
We use industry-standard security practices: HTTPS for all traffic, encryption at rest for cloud-stored data, and no public-facing direct database access. No system is perfectly secure. If we ever experience a data breach affecting your account, we will notify you within 72 hours of discovery and report to authorities as required by law.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in a way that affects how we use your data, we will notify you in the app and via email (if you have an account) at least 30 days before the change takes effect.
